Meat Log Mountain Second Date 41

Notes: This a Thanksgiving themed episode (the second Thanksgiving episode that aired in 2018, following "Thankful Siblings"). The rounds were modified to fit the theme. Instead of the rounds being appetizer, entrée, and dessert, the first round was "sides," the second round was "turkey," and the third round was "pie." The first round had thirty minutes to accommodate multiple side dishes, the second round was extended to forty-five minutes to give enough time to butcher and cook the turkey, and the third round was forty-five minutes to give enough time to bake a pie. The first chef eliminated had a donation made to No Kid Hungry in their honor.

Notes: Every basket in this episode had a thigh meat protein and a version of french fries. The chefs had to fry something in every round. To accommodate the frying requirement, a second fryer was brought into the Chopped kitchen. The long fries in round 1 were potatoes puréed and piped into oil to look like a long french fry. The tornado fries in round 2 were spiralized potatoes fried on a skewer, resembling a continuous curly fry. The cookie fries in round 3 were actually shortbread cookies shaped like french fries.

Notes: Part five of a five-part tournament. *Since the episode was 60 minutes like normal and had four chefs versus three as in prior tournaments with the final round as a face-off against a professional chef for a chance at the prize, two chefs were eliminated in the entreé round, and only the entreé round factored into the judges' decision. This is the second episode to have a double elimination (the first being the Alton's Challenge finale). The stuffed doughnuts in round 1 were stuffed with vanilla ice cream that was covered in rainbow sprinkles. The potted meat in round 2 was made with chicken and pork in a can. The deep-fried milk in round 3 was sweet custard thickened with corn starch, then breaded and deep-fried. Lobster ravioli was Stephen's choice in round 3, as in Beat Bobby Flay with both chefs cooking the winning chef's signature dish and was 45 minutes instead of the usual 30 to accommodate the crossover format. **At the end of round 3, the judges in rounds 1 and 2 were replaced with new judges for a blind taste test, similar to the end of round 2 in "Beat Bobby Flay" with judging who made a better version of the dish and the winner receiving $50,000. And as a result of the chefs not being able to describe their own dishes, Ted did so instead. Counting Bobby Flay, this is the first non-team episode to have more than the usual four chefs competing.

Notes: This episode featured "man's best friend" and a different, larger set (the 'summertime' set, possibly The Art Factory in Paterson, NJ[1]). The competing chefs were all dog lovers who had to make the usual dishes along with a separate treat, using at least one basket ingredient, for a golden retriever named James. The chefs were given an extra 10 minutes in each round to account for making an extra doggie snack. To accommodate the requirement, all the baskets had ingredients that were safe for dogs to eat. The "doggie beer" in the second round was bone broth and the "cappuccino" in the third round was just whipped heavy cream.

Notes: This was a blind date team competition where 2 private chefs were paired up based on their interests and what they were looking for in a romantic partner. They met for the first time on the show and had to work together to try and win. This was the second match-making, blind date themed episode (the first one being Hungry for Love which aired in season 28). Chef Camerron had previously won Cutthroat Kitchen

According to the original meaning, the attributes [sublimity, potentiality of success, power to further, perseverance] are paired. When an individual draws this oracle, it means that success will come to him from the primal depths of the universe and that everything depends upon his seeking his happiness and that of others in one way only, that is, by perseverancein what is right. The specific meanings of the four attributes becamethe subject of speculation at an early date. The Chinese word here renderedby "sublime" means literally "head," "origin," "great." This is why Confucius says in explaining it: "Great indeed is the generating power of the Creative; all beings owe their beginning to it. This power permeates all heaven."For this attribute inheres in the other three as well. The beginning ofall things lies still in the beyond in the form of ideas that have yet tobecome real. But the Creative furthermore has power to lend form to thesearchetypes of ideas. This is indicated in the word success, and the processis represented by an image from nature: "The clouds pass and the rain doesits work, and all individual beings flow into their forms." Applies tothe human world, these attributes show the great man the way to notablesuccess: "Because he sees with great clarity and cause and effects, he completesthe six steps at the right time and mounts toward heaven on them at theright time, as though on six dragons." The six steps are the six differentpositions given in the hexagram, which are represented later by the dragonsymbol. Here it is shown that the way to success lies in apprehending andgiving actuality to the way of the universe [Tao], which, as a law runningthrough end and beginning, brings about all phenomena in time. Thus eachstep attained forthwith becomes a preparation for the next. Time is no longera hindrance but the means of making actual what is potential. The act ofcreation having found expression in the two attributes sublimity and success, the work of conservation is shown to be a continuous actualization and differentiationof form. This is expressed in the two terms "furthering" (literally, "creatingthat which accords with the nature of a given being") and "persevering"(literally, "correct and firm"). "The course of the Creative alters andshapes beings until each attains its true, specific nature, then it keepsthem in conformity with the Great Harmony. Thus does it show itself to furtherthrough perseverance." In relation to the human sphere, this shows how thegreat man brings peace and security to the world through his activity increating order: "He towers high above the multitude of beings, and all landsare united in peace." Another line of speculation goes still further inseparating the words "sublime," "success," "furthering," "perseverance," and parallels them with the four cardinal virtues in humanity. To sublimity, which, as the fundamental principle, embraces all the other attributes,it links love. To the attribute success are linked the morals, which regulate and organize expressions of love and thereby make them successful. The attribute furthering is correlated with justice, which creates the conditions in which each receives that which accords with his being, that which is due him and which constitutes his happiness. The attribute perseverance is correlated with wisdom, which discerns the immutable laws of all that happens and can therefore bring about enduring conditions. These speculations, already broached in the commentary called Wên Yen , later formed the bridge connecting the philosophy of the "five stages (elements) of change," as laid down in the Book of History (Shu Ching) with the philosophy of the Book of Changes, which is based solely on the polarity of positive and negative principles. In the course of time this combination of the two systems of thought opened the way for an increasingly intricate number symbolism. 2ff7e9595c
